I'm a freshman at Whitman....i.e. I'm a clueless loser.
People keep mentioning all these clubs, and stuff...have all the clubs started already? Or is there some sort of flyer or something I could pick up that has all the clubs on it? Basically, I'm interested in this so-called Fashion Club...if even it exists..?
Thanks for the help ;)

There should be a night in October when all the clubs set up booths, and you can get more info there. You'll hear about it soon enough. Fashion club is fantastic, I was actually in it as a Freshman (6 years ago!) and I don't know how much it's changed, but it was LOADS of fun.
Oooh, thanks! I've never used a sewing machine, and I don't do patterns...but I still think it would be snazzy.

Thanks...I'm on Craftster, and I do sew and stuff...What I meant was, what I do isn't exactly "professional" but I have done stencilling, tshirt reconstruction, etc.
Yeah, they have Welcome to Whitman Night coming up generally soon. I've never actually been, and I would really suggest going, (esp. as a freshman) because if you don't its like, oh, I have no clubs, I am sad. Every club sets up a booth, and normally the freshman come an hour earlier to get first dibs. So thats really when the clubs start up.
lol, great! Thanks so much.
Um, by the way...since i'm oh-so-cool...I think, if you're Emma, you know my friend Louisa? She loves you with a passion. As you know I'm sure. :)
Yeah, Louisa told me that I had come across one of her friends. Livejournal is weird.
Actually, I'm one of the three presidents of the Fashion Society. We do exist and we have a lot of plans for this year. Stuff is still up in the air but we will have the Fashion Show the Friday after Festival of the Arts. Let me know if you have any questions, feel free to ask.
You're one of the Presidents this year? Congratulations! It's about time they actually had a reason to listen to you about the club!
Whoa, awesome! Thanks a lot.
If you can (I know most classes won't shut up 2nd period, but it's worth a try) listen to the announcements. Most clubs will put notification there about when they're meeting.
And as people have already said, Welcome to Whitman night is a great way to find out what clubs are out there. Freshman usually have an hour to browse the booths before all the other classes are even allowed in, so it's a great way to start finding which clubs you want to check out.
A few clubs have started meeting already, but most of them won't mind if a new member drops in at a meeting.
also, cause litlefallofrain mentioned announcements and then a little lightbulb appeared above my head, you can ask your parents to forward the morning announcements to you. they are e-mailed out over whitnet and since for some dumbass reason we the students arent allowed to recieve or send whitnet e-mails, your parents will have to forward them to you.
sorry that this is so rambly but its before noon on a saturday.
Ah yes, I tried subscribing and got one angry email back...my mom's forwarding them to me now. :)
So I'm not the only one aggravated that students can't join WhitNet?!
not at all, ive had very long rants/discussions with my parents about it and am planning on writing a letter to the administration/ptsa presidents about it
You could probably get a couple more signitures for your letter if you talk to more students and pass it around.
